Pinedorado Days Returns to Cambria

2014 PinedoradoIt’s time for the 67th annual Pinedorado Days celebration in Cambria this Labor Day Weekend. This year’s theme – Cambria’s My Kind of Town. This Cambria tradition is filled with activities for the entire family.

Early risers can get a jump on the day Saturday morning at the AFS-Pinedorado 24th Annual 5K Fun Run. The race starts at 7am at the Coast Union High School and follows the parade route. The entry fee is $15 and proceeds benefit the Coast Union’s American Field Service Program.

Join in the pre-parade festivities at the Joslyn Center’s Annual Waffle Breakfast. Start your morning off with a delicious breakfast featuring both regular and gluten-free waffles, pork or veggie sausage, organic strawberries and melon, and more! Tickets are available for $10 at the Joslyn Center office or the Cambria Chamber of Commerce.

The event kicks into high gear with the annual Pinedorado Parade beginning at 9:30 am. See Cambria’s artistic and whimsical spirit at its finest as the nearly 70 entries make their way along the parade’s route that winds down Main Street from East to West Villages.

After the parade, head to the Pinedorado Grounds off Main Street where the festivities continue throughout the weekend. Featuring food booths, beer & wine, carnival rides & kiddy cars, games for the kids, face painting, an art show and live music, this event is a favorite of locals and visitors alike. Concessions open daily at 10:00am Saturday through Monday.

One highlight of the event is the renowned Pinedorado barbecue, offering all your favorites – succulent top sirloin, tender chicken, hand-made burgers, fresh corn on the cob, and mouthwatering baked goods. Raise a glass at the Wine & Beer Pub. Enjoy local fare from some of the area’s finest wineries and brewers. Guests can get up close and personal with the exotic animal ambassadors from the “Zoo to You” wildlife sanctuary out of Paso Robles.

Highway Closures

Highway 1 Closure

If you're heading to the Central Coast, be sure to be mindful of the stretch of Highway 1, 21 miles north of Cambria. Caltrans is busy with a major construction project to make traveling along the stunning Pacific Coast Highway a safer journey.

Highway 1 Storm Repair Along the Big Sur Coast Due to multiple active slides, State Route 1 is now closed between Ragged Pt. (SLO 72.87) and just south of Nepenthe (Mon 44).

Worried about Highway 1 Road Closures? Cambria and Hearst Castle are easily accessible from Highway 46 West from 101 South of Paso Robles or from northbound Highway 1 from the city of San Luis Obispo. Travelers from the north can easily take Highway 101 as an alternate route to Highway 1, which reduces travel time to Cambria by about 25 minutes.

For the latest road closure information visit the Caltrans website.
