BlendFest – The 805’s Premier Wine Tasting Event

Showcasing the Unique and Unconventional Blends of the Central Coast

Some of the greatest wines are made from a blend of grapes rather than a single varietal. By blending varietals, winemakers can change a wine’s quality, enhancing aromas, color, texture, and body, making it a more well-rounded and complex wine. With the ideal climate and soil, the Central Coast’s wine region produces some of the most unique and distinct blended wines in the world.

Last year, Paso BlendFest on the Coast held its inaugural event celebrating the spectacular wine blends produced by the region’s award-winning wineries. Set on the seaside bluffs of the rugged California coastline, guest sampled premium blends from dozens of the region’s finest wineries surrounded by breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean.

L.A. based journalist and travel writer for the Huffington Post, Scott Bridges headed up the coast for a little wine and relaxation in Cambria. He rounded out his visit with a trip to BlendFest’s 2015 event. Checkout the highlights of Scott’s trip in his article Escape LA: Wines Among the Pines in Cambria. Scott called BlendFest “the best of both worlds, serving to awaken visitors to the complex taste of Paso’s vino and to the stunning views of the coastline of Cambria…”

Not his first trip to Cambria, Scott writes that Cambria’s thriving cultural scene highlighted by a row of art galleries on a pedestrian-friendly main street are what puts Cambria on the map. With restaurants that embrace the latest culinary trends, a thriving wine industry, unique boutiques and fine art galleries, Cambria is quickly becoming one of the most popular coastal getaway spots in California.

For those of you who missed last year’s event, tickets to 2016 Paso BlendFest on the Coast are on sale now. This year’s event, held February 19 through 21 on Hearst Property at Old San Simeon Village, will feature over 30 renowned wineries, each sampling 3 unique blends. The weekend includes wine tasting sessions, blending seminars and an exclusive winemaker dinner. Guests who stay in Cambria can save on event tickets with our Stay & Save package. Highway Closures

Highway 1 Closure

If you're heading to the Central Coast, be sure to be mindful of the stretch of Highway 1, 21 miles north of Cambria. Caltrans is busy with a major construction project to make traveling along the stunning Pacific Coast Highway a safer journey.

Highway 1 Storm Repair Along the Big Sur Coast Due to multiple active slides, State Route 1 is now closed between Ragged Pt. (SLO 72.87) and just south of Nepenthe (Mon 44).

Worried about Highway 1 Road Closures? Cambria and Hearst Castle are easily accessible from Highway 46 West from 101 South of Paso Robles or from northbound Highway 1 from the city of San Luis Obispo. Travelers from the north can easily take Highway 101 as an alternate route to Highway 1, which reduces travel time to Cambria by about 25 minutes.

For the latest road closure information visit the Caltrans website.
