Cambria Christmas Market

The holidays are the perfect time to take a trip to the Central Coast. There is so much to see and do, whether you’re fond of historical homes, bright lights or festive feasts! The Christmas Market features vendors with all sorts of treats and gifts, as well as thousands of lights strung up to create a magical winter wonderland that you won’t want to miss! Read our blog for more information.

You can see this spectacular estate just as Mr. Hearst’s guests did in the 1920s and 1930s at Christmastime! The castle is fully decorated and offering three tours specially featuring the holiday splendor. Décor will be up through the end of the month of December. Check out their website to book your tour.

The Pewter Plough Playhouse will be hosting a special show of Clue: The Musical on New Year’s Eve at 7 p.m. After the show, head over to Harmony Café for dinner and wine. Then, take part in the New Year’s festivities from 10 p.m. to midnight, with live music from the Sunny Wright Trio. Call the box office at 805.924.1219 for reservations!

Highway Closures

Highway 1 Closure

If you're heading to the Central Coast, be sure to be mindful of the stretch of Highway 1, 21 miles north of Cambria. Caltrans is busy with a major construction project to make traveling along the stunning Pacific Coast Highway a safer journey.

Highway 1 Storm Repair Along the Big Sur Coast Due to multiple active slides, State Route 1 is now closed between Ragged Pt. (SLO 72.87) and just south of Nepenthe (Mon 44).

Worried about Highway 1 Road Closures? Cambria and Hearst Castle are easily accessible from Highway 46 West from 101 South of Paso Robles or from northbound Highway 1 from the city of San Luis Obispo. Travelers from the north can easily take Highway 101 as an alternate route to Highway 1, which reduces travel time to Cambria by about 25 minutes.
