Love is Sweeter in Cambria: A Timeless Romantic Retreat

Life can be busy, and finding time to connect with your partner can be challenging. Don’t waste another minute not focusing on each other—book a getaway that’s all about connecting. Create a sweet getaway in Cambria that celebrates those little moments where you can share your dessert, share a glass of wine, or share the sunset as you walk on the beach. However you design your stay, Cambria can speak your love language.

Share a Sweet Dessert

One of the sweetest things about Cambria is its famous olallieberry pie! From the Olallieberry Inn to Linn’s Fruit Bin, olallieberries are everywhere—they thrive in the Central Coast climate, and are used in recipes and restaurants all around town. During your romantic getaway, share a slice of olallieberry pie and find out what all the fuss is about. Then, take home an olallieberry-flavored souvenir to keep the memories of your magical moment alive. Linn’s sells take-and-bake pies, but they also have jams, jellies, salad dressings, syrups and beyond that make your mouth water long after your trip is over.

Spa & Wellness

Discover yourselves by relaxing your body and mind, and rejuvenate your senses with a luxurious massage. Share the experience with your partner by taking advantage of one of the spa packages designed just for couples at Therapy by the Sea or at Cambria Wellness. Maybe you’re feeling more adventurous? How about a mini retreat at Sojourn and experience YOGASSAGE, which includes a signature massage and private yoga session. If that’s too progressive for you, El Colibri Spa offers a deep tissue massage that is out of this world.

Strolling Around

No morning (or evening for that matter!) in Cambria is complete without a stroll on Moonstone Beach. Meander along the one-mile boardwalk, famous for its dramatic coastline and breathtaking views. Spend your time searching for tiny moonstones, exploring the tide pools or watching the sea otters frolicking in the waves.

If you’re looking for a quiet spot away from it all, take a romantic hike on the Bluff Trail at Fiscalini Ranch. It’s here that you’ll experience some of the most stunning scenery on this mountain path that winds alongside the Pacific Ocean. The dramatic ocean bluff runs more than a mile along the shoreline, rising to a 400-foot ridge offering breath-taking views of the horizon. With access to the tide pools, this is the perfect place to explore local marine wildlife and spot migrating whales, birds and playful sea otters floating in the kelp forest. Pack a picnic, bring along a blanket and a bottle of wine, and enjoy a romantic sunset dinner on the bluff before heading back to town.

Get a glimpse of the town’s historic architecture up close on the Historical Society’s self-guided Walking Tour. You’ll see original historic buildings, structures, and lavish homes of Cambria’s founding families now restored and operating as thriving businesses. Tour the famed Piedras Blancas Light Station, first illuminated in 1875 to serve as a beacon for sailors navigating the rugged coastline. Explore the restored lighthouse, surrounding buildings and grounds of this historic park and wildlife sanctuary.

Wine Tasting

Famous for world-class wineries and vineyards, no trip to the Central Coast would be complete without a wine tasting excursion. Treat the one you love to an unforgettable wine rendezvous at a hillside vineyard. Stop by the Stolo Family Winery & Vineyards for tastings and tours. The restored farmhouse and dairy, dating back to the late 1800s, sits at the base of a sun-kissed vineyard. Learn about the planting process and the vineyard’s history as you stroll through the lush vines and rolling hills.

Finish up in the rustic tasting room, where you’ll sample three complimentary estate wines produced at this award-winning winery. Don’t forget to grab a bottle or two for later on. Cutruzzola Vineyards is another estate winery, offering varietals in their tasting room in Cambria’s West Village. Their vineyards are just moments outside of town, where ocean air creates unique flavors in their grapes. You don’t have to stop here—there are plenty of tasting rooms to visit in Cambria, and all along the Pacific Coast Wine Trail.

Evening Activities

Stay in Cambria ’til sunset and you’ll be treated to a spectacular view as the setting sun paints an awe-inspiring picture across the horizon. Remember your morning walk on Moonstone Beach? Now it’s time to go back again, perhaps to find a spot along the boardwalk to take out the bottle of wine you bought earlier. Rather stay cozy indoors? Experience some of the local talent at one of the many locations offering live music.
