Fun for Free in Cambria, CA

Your hunger for adventure doesn’t necessitate breaking the budget! Whether you’re joining us for the day or an entire weekend, Cambria has an array of fun activities that are inexpensive but still provide you a chance to get out in fresh air and open spaces. When you’re ready for free fun, Cambria is ready for you!

1. Hike through Fiscalini Ranch

At the main entrance to Fiscalini Ranch, the one-mile Bluff Trail boardwalk meanders above the coastal bluff from Windsor Boulevard. This scenic trail offers spectacular ocean views and is a good place to spot native wildlife, seabirds, migrating whales, sea otters, and other marine life.

2. Walk along Moonstone Beach Boardwalk

Famous for its dramatic coastline and breathtaking views, the one-mile-long Moonstone Beach Boardwalk is where your seaside escape begins. Whether you want to sink your ties into the sand, catch glimpses of marine life, explore living tide pools, or simply relax and watch the sunset, you will find there is something for everyone on Moonstone Beach.

3. Visit the Old Santa Rosa Creek Road Chapel & Gardens

See a part of history when you visit the Santa Rosa Chapel, a National Historic Registry landmark and one of the oldest churches in the County, built in 1870. It served the community for 91 years, until falling into a state of neglect—which was restored for seven years, rededicated for community use in September of 1984.

4. Explore Leffingwell Landing

Leffingwell Landing is located at the north end of Moonstone Beach, and there’s no better place in town for a moment of solitude and serenity. Enjoy the sounds of the waves as you clear your mind. Start your walk at Leffingwell Landing and make your way down to an all-time favorite, Moonstone Beach.

5. Take the Historic Walking Tour

You can connect with the past during the Historic Walking Tour in Cambria. Explore the town through a different lens and see all of the phases of history via Cambria’s unique architecture. Go back in time and leave the stress of today behind as you walk through town.

6. Find the Love Locks

If you come to Cambria with a loved one, visiting the locks on Moonstone Beach Boardwalk is a must. They are hidden away on a small trail, but once you find them, you’ll never forget. Bring a special lock from home and write a sweet message on it—it will live on in Cambria, where you can always return for a reminder of your love.

7. Tour local art galleries

Cambria is a lively town, filled with unique and incredibly talented artists and local art galleries. Stroll through the charming town and discover galleries that specialize in live demonstrations, sculpting, painting, and much more! You may find that new piece your home has been missing.

8. See the elephant seals

Prime birthing season takes place in late January and early February, so right now there won’t be hundreds of seals, but some will likely still be there sunbathing. While you’re there, you can also check out the Piedras Blancas Lighthouse, which is nearby and has breathtaking views.

9. Visit the town of Harmony

Population of 18, the village of Harmony is located just five miles south of Cambria and filled with small-town charm. Get a sense of the village’s artisans by visiting Harmony Glass Works, where they offer a one-of-a-kind experience in contemporary glass art.

10. Hike to the waterfall at Ragged Point

The hidden waterfall five miles north of Ragged Point is a sight to behold. It isn’t a difficult hike, but it’s well worth the effort—hike the Salmon Creek Trail just off the road, and the waterfall isn’t far down the trail. Be sure to bring a camera—you’ll want to capture these spectacular views!

11. Grab a quick bite to eat

While you’re in town, you can still experience the taste of Cambria’s cuisine without breaking the bank! Choose from many of our quick eateries throughout town, that lack long wait times but not in taste. Pick up a quick meal in town and take it to your favorite spot to enjoy.
