The Future of Night

Cambria welcomes stargazers and science lovers. “The Future of Night” is a thought-provoking evening presented by Beautify Cambria, dedicated to the wonders of our universe and the beauty brought by preserving night skies.

Hosted at the historic Santa Rosa Church, this event brings two extraordinary speakers to Cambria. Sandy Seale is the Director of Development at Las Cumbres Observatory, who played a key role in fundraising for the Vera C. Rubin Observatory—the site of the world’s largest digital camera. Jim Bean, a 23-year NASA JPL veteran, was on the Mars Rover mobility team and now leads engineering management systems. At this event, you’ll hear both of them speak on their astronomical expertise.

In addition to these presentations under the stars, the event will feature:

  • Telescope viewing of Saturn, Neptune, and the moon
  • Deep space images from local astronomers
  • Cookies and light refreshments
  • A silent auction to support local initiatives
  • Presentation of the Good Neighbor Lighting Award

A $15 donation is requested for entry. Children ages 12 and under attend for free.
