History. Lots and Lots of History.
2016 marked the sesquicentennial (150 year anniversary) of Cambria, so needless to say, there is rich history rooted in this coastal town. While visiting Cambria, make a stop at the Historical Museum, off Main Street, on the corner of Burton and Center Street, for an education in times past. Be sure to participate in a self-guided or docent-lead walking tour or one of the many ongoing speakers’ series offered by the Cambria Historical Society.
Moonstone Beach
Whether on the beach or along the one-mile stretch of boardwalk hugging the coast, walks on Moonstone will be sure to leave your camera void of digital space. This splendid stretch of coastline between Cambria’s north end and Leffingwell Landing, offers refuge on an abundance of wooden benches. Look for whales, dolphins, sea otters, and birds as you explore the beach, and don’t forget the tide pools. Plus, while on the beach, look closely at the small rocks—you might come across the shiny moonstone for which this beach was named.
