Illustrating an Idea: Bringing your Dream to the Drawing Board

Turn inspiration into something tangible in this immersive, hands-on drawing workshop at the Cambria Center for the Arts. Led by veteran Disney effects animator Mauro Maressa, this full-day session is designed to help you transform ideas—whether sparked from imagination or vivid dreams—into fully realized artwork.

Through a structured, approachable process, you’ll explore the essential steps of illustration, from initial thumbnails and composition to gathering reference and refining your final piece. Along the way, you’ll gain practical tools and creative clarity to help move your ideas from concept to paper with confidence.

Fee is $150, or $125 for CCA members, and you can sign up online. You will need to bring materials including a sketchpad, pencils or pens, eraser, ruler, and a phone or iPad for gathering reference images.
