Moments of Togetherness

Meet in the middle for moments of joy and reconnection.

Most people know Cambria as a romantic seaside getaway, but it’s also a vacation spot that your entire family will love! Wildlife, tidepools, olallieberry pie, and lighthouse tours are just the beginning of your memorable family getaway. Follow our three-day family-friendly itinerary to gather inspiration for your next trip to Cambria!

Day 1:

Breakfast at Hidden Kitchen

The Hidden Kitchen is a breakfast hotspot that offers something for every member of your family. Sweet and savory waffles, superfood smoothies, summer peach tea, and organic orange juice are just a few of the menu items that your family will fall in love with.

Watch for Wildlife

Elephant seals, zebras, and horses—oh my! The Central Coast is full of exotic wildlife that you can view—and you don’t even have to buy tickets for the zoo. Drive down Highway 1 to the Elephant Seal Rookery to view the elephant seals in their natural habitat, and you may even catch a glimpse of the zebras at Hearst Castle on the way. Whichever animal you’re hoping to spot, remember to bring your binoculars and camera to see the faraway fauna.

Lunch at Linn’s

A trip to Cambria isn’t complete without a visit to Linn’s. Grab lunch at Linn’s Restaurant to enjoy traditional meals like Linn’s pot pies, fresh homemade soups, and filling sandwiches. Just make sure you don’t get too full for dessert because Linn’s famous olallieberry pie is a must! It really is famous—Food Network’s Mark Summers featured the pie on the TV show, “The Best Thing I Ever Ate.”

Spend time on Moonstone Beach

Famous for its dramatic coastline and breathtaking views, the Moonstone Beach Boardwalk is where your Cambria seaside escape begins. Whether you want to sink your toes into the rocky sand, catch glimpses of marine life swimming by, explore living tide pools, or head out to sea for surfing, boating, and other aquatic adventures, you will find there is something for everyone to enjoy on Moonstone Beach.

Dinner at JBJ Roundup Pizza

You can’t go wrong with pizza—especially JBJ Roundup Pizza. JBJ Roundup Pizza is home to classic brick oven pizzas with dough that is made from scratch daily. Dine in, eat on their outdoor patio, or maybe even take your pizza down to the beach to watch the sun setting over the Pacific Ocean.

Day 2:

Breakfast at French Corner Bakery

If you are looking for quality bread, pastry and delightful treats for the entire family, the French Corner Bakery is the place to go. Their cases are always full of mouthwatering creations that are baked fresh every single day.

Tour Cambria on Horseback

Horseback riding in Cambria is a memory that your children will never forget. Tour the grand coastline and the unique Monterey pines or encounter the majestic Clydesdales of all ages, sizes, and abilities with Covell’s Clydesdales.

Lunch at Boni’s Tacos

Boni’s Tacos is a small, family-owned and operated restaurant. Boni’s quickly became popular not only with the locals, but with tourists all along the Coast. Boni’s dishes are made with 100% authenticity from their family to yours. They are well-known for their potato tacos, but the entire menu is delicious!

Stroll Main Street

From boutiques and art galleries to antique and garden shops, Cambria is full of interesting stores for your family to explore. Walk down Cambria’s historic East Village to grab a sweet treat at Red Moose Cookie Company and shop for vintage treasures at Antiques on Main. Afterward, stroll down to Cambria’s West Village to view expertly crafted pottery at Ephraim Pottery. Don’t leave Main Street without stopping to pick up a souvenir at STASH Local Goods!

Dinner at Main Street Grill

After a long afternoon of shopping, you’ll have worked up a big appetite for a dinner at Main Street Grill. The local favorites are calamari and shrimp, but kids and adults alike will love their tri-tip sandwich and A.B.C. burger—and don’t forget the fries!

Day 3:

Breakfast at Redwood Cafe

The Redwood Café has brought high-quality, great value, home-cooked southern comfort cuisine to Cambria since 1998. Enjoy a wide variety of delicious Southern home-cooked options like Eggs Benedict, Grits, and Buttermilk Pancakes. There is sure to be something to satisfy the entire family!

Bike through Cambria

One of the best ways to explore Cambria is on two wheels. Take advantage of the cycling-friendly community and tour the town on your bike. Cambria Beach Lodge, El Colibri Hotel & Spa, and White Water are a few of the lodging properties that have bicycles available—or you can visit a local rental shop like Cambria Electric Bike Company and VeloCambria.

Lunch at Old Stone Station

Old Stone Station is located in a restored historic gas station at the west end of Main Street. Locals flock to this eatery for its huge salads, delicious sandwiches, and homemade desserts. Your family will love its charming atmosphere, reasonable prices, great food, and touch of nostalgia.

Tour Piedras Blancas Light Station

Just 15 miles north of Cambria on a rugged, windswept coastal point rests the historic Piedras Blancas Lighthouse. A variety of tours are offered year-round, including sunset and whale-watching tours as well as guided tours of the restored lighthouse and surrounding buildings. Tours are reservation only, so make sure to book ahead of time!

Dinner at Moonstone Beach Bar & Grill
